Stores We Own and How We Link Them
Last updated
The people behind this magazine also own four businesses. Some stories link to them, always with a note beside the link saying that the business and this site share owners. The links are ordinary links: nobody pays for them, and they are not marked as advertising because they are not advertising.
The four businesses
PlumbingSupplyAndMore is an online plumbing and HVAC supply store. It sells thermostats, filters and indoor air quality parts, humidifiers, registers and dampers, duct insulation and tape, mini-split equipment, condenser pads and furnaces, among much else. Stories link to the category that matches what the story discusses.
SoftPro Water Systems and Quality Water Treatment sell water softeners, filters, reverse osmosis systems and test kits. They appear only where water quality touches heating and cooling: mineral scale in evaporative coolers and white dust from portable humidifiers.
Central Plumbing, Heating & AC is a service company in Bucks and Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It does not work in Colorado. The hiring stories link to its service pages only as an example of what a clear contractor service page looks like.
How the links are chosen
A store link goes on a story only when it is about the same thing the story is about, and never in place of the information a reader needs. Stories never say a homeowner should install refrigerant, gas or electrical equipment, whatever a store sells. The magazine does not publish prices from these stores.
